This is my research paper proposal for New Media and Business class.
I may want to add some other materials in my paper, so I am keep researching.
I have three positive and three negative points in terms of Social Media so far.
In my research paper, I
would like to explore how social media influence people in both positive and
negative ways. Social media is a helpful tool because of its convenience. Social
media make us easier to connect with people globally. It helps us a lot of
people such as a person who seeks a job, a group of people who have the same
interests, or a company which have an online meeting with their coworkers in
different countries. Many companies also tend to use social media to advertise
themselves. Moreover, social media spread real-time information immediately. This
helps us to know quickly what the world is going on now. We know many positive
elements about social media. However, they cannot ignore some negative elements
because these may hurt us sometime. For example, social media makes anyone possible
to share information. However, its element can cause of increasing false and unreliable
information online. Since there is no way to prove what information is wrong, other
people may believe wrong information. It increases people’s stereotypes,
prejudice, and discrimination. A hacker may invade our personal spaces and
steals our private information such as our bank and e-mail accounts. We may also
lack our concentrations to work on our tasks because we are addicted to social media.
In this paper, I am focusing on three positive elements which are global
connectivity, business strategy, and immediate sharing information and three
negative elements which are unreliable information, invasion of privacy, and
addiction to social media.
